Jackie Zeman will be honored by her co-stars in a very special way , a year after she sadly died following a short battle with cancer .
The actress, who was well-known for playing Bonnie Spencer on General Hospital, died at the age of 70 last May in Thousand Oaks, California, shortly after her diagnosis . Now, The Peacock soap opera The Bay has announced a tribute episode to honor Jackie.
Jackie starred as Sofia Madison on the show off-and-on from 2010 to 2023. The tribute episode of The Bay will also feature some special guest appearances from Jackie's General Hospital co-stars, who paid tribute to her with several memorial episodes in January .

The special episode of The Bay will stream on Peacock in September, according to Variety . Head writer Gregori J Martin told the publication: "The special episode titled ‘Sofia’ will be a celebration of both the Sofia character and Jackie Zeman’s life, with several special guest stars that meant something to Jackie’s legacy."
Dee Wallace will guest star as Sofia's sister who has moved to Bay City to launch a fragrance line in honor of Sofia. Leigh McCloskey, who played one of Bonnie's ex-husbands on General Hospital, will play Sofia's first husband and the father of her two daughters, Hank Henderson.
Tamara Braun, who starred in General Hospital as Bonnie's daughter Carly Corinthos, will also guest star. She will play "a blind woman who is given the gift of sight after receiving Sofia’s donated corneas".

During General Hospital's farewell episodes, past characters returned to celebrate her life. These included Maxie (Kirsten Storms), Laura (Genie Francis), Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst), Scott (Kin Shriner), and Carly (Laura Wright).
Jackie's close friends in real life - Finola Hughes (Anna), Lynn Herring (Lucy), and Ryan Carnes (Lucas) - also appeared in the episodes. While filming the episodes, the cast admitted they were not only mourning the character but their friend Jackie.
"When we shot the memorial, the entire cast was there. And it wasn't just for Bobbie; it was for Jackie as well," Laura said in an interview with People . "I mean, walking on set and seeing her photo, seeing all the pamphlets of like when you come to a memorial or a celebration of life, the pamphlet speaking about the individual and who is going to speak, it was bittersweet."
