A group of mama cows leaves their calves with a "babysitter" so they can all go out to dinner on a "Girls' Night."

On July 10, 2024, TikTok user Corey (@coreyyy.marie) shared a video and her explanation for what we're seeing looking at the cows in the field is hilarious. Take a look!

In a 15-second video, we learn a new fun fact about cows that we had no idea was a thing before.

"My favorite thing ever is when the cows leave their calves with the babysitter," Corey, who is behind the camera, says. In our view is a beautiful shot of their field with several cows grazing in the background, magical clouds, and a big, lush forest behind them.

And when Corey says "babysitter," that's very accurate, which isn't something we realized; it was something cows did, too.

"Clara is that babysitter," the woman explains in the video while she zooms in on the small calves and one big cow on the right side of the screen.

She then zooms out and pans to the left, where the other adult cows are. "But they're all going out to dinner and having a girls' night while Clara babysits."

"Clara just gets singled out because shes a shorthorn," the video's caption reads. And in the comments, people shared their surprise at this, too.

"Clara is taking one for the team," the official Cracker Barrel team commented.

"I think I need a children’s book of adventures while babysitting the calves," one person wrote.

"Mine is an old girl. Named #16 because of her tab. Sometimes I would see her with 10+ calves roaming the pasture," someone else shared. "Then she would bring them back to the herd at night."

"I hope they bring a plate back for Clara," joked another.

"How do cows have a 'village' and I don’t," someone else asked.

"Now we need Real Housecows of Your Farm content," was an idea from another viewer.

Do Cows Like to Live in Groups?

Some animals love to be in groups, staying with a family where they'll be able to live their live happy and surrounded by others. But other animals prefer to be alone and only seek out companionship when it's time to have babies.

But what do cows typically prefer? According to experts, dairy cows are very social and have their own social hierarchy going on.

"One study identified three different social structures within a dairy herd: a milking order, a leadership-followership pattern, and a dominance hierarchy, suggesting that the social dynamic isn’t just a social ladder, but rather a more complicated web," PetMD reports.

Adding, "Social dynamics affect the order cows enter the milking parlor twice a day, who follows who in the field and around the barn, and who gets pushed out of the way when push comes to shove."

We love it when moms have support teams who can help the mom. Hopefully, Clara gets the accolades she deserves!
