TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. ( WGNO ) — Investigators are looking for the people responsible for a drive-by shooting that was caught on camera on Sunday, July 7.

The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office reported the shooting happened just after 11 p.m. at a home between Hammond and Ponchatoula, near the corner of Pleasant Ridge Road Extension and Sisters Road.

Bullets pierced multiple vehicles, the home and the garage.

“It’s a quiet, rural community, not known for crime problems, and we received the 911 call that they were the victims of a drive-by,” explained Sheriff Gerald Sticker. “It was two adults present in the residence. Fortunately, they were not struck, but there was an excess of 10 rounds that were fired at the house.”

Home security video shows one person get out the passenger’s side of a small vehicle before it moves down the road with its lights off. The person who got out the car can be seen shooting at the home before getting back into the vehicle. The vehicle leaves by heading west on Sisters Road toward Yokum Road.

While investigators work to determine the identities of the suspects, they’re also working to determine a motive for the crime.

The sheriff says the shooting, at this time, appears to be intentional.

“This, to me personally, speaks that it was targeted intentionally at occupants of this residence, either one or both parties,” Sticker said. “We’re working to determine that, and we’re interviewing the victims to see who they may have had problems with. But it does, it takes it up a level. They took time to get out of that vehicle, walk up to the house closer and fire those shots directly into it. So, there’s some issues going on here that we’re delving into.”

This is the first violent crime investigation under Sticker’s term, and he’s making his message clear.

“We can tell [the suspects] if they happen to be seeing this that the best thing for them to do is to come turn themselves in because we will find you,” Sticker said.

The new sheriff is urging neighbors in the area to check their surveillance footage for anything that may lead to an arrest.

Anyone with further information about the crime can call the TPSO’s Criminal Investigations Office at 985-902-2017 or Crimestoppers of Tangipahoa at 1-800-554-5245.
