Royal commentator Emily Andrews has now revealed details of a particularly chilly moment back in 2018 during the esteemed Invictus Games in Sydney, an event personally extended by Harry himself.
Shedding light on a strained period in their friendship, Emily disclosed how Beckham, who was a VIP guest at the couple's wedding earlier that year, received a direct invite from Harry to attend the Invictus Gamesan international sports competition for wounded servicemen and women founded by Harry in 2014. This was meant to be a highlight of the Sussexes' first official tour of Australia.
However, the situation unexpectedly soured when Beckham arrived in Sydney only to find that Harry appeared to be avoiding him. Writing for Woman magazine, Andrews detailed that a source informed her: "Becks was personally invited and duly came, along with sons Cruz and Romeo. When he arrived in Sydney, he asked what Harry's schedule was so he could attend the same events."
Harry was shocked, reportedly exclaiming: "What the f---? He should be coming to support the games, not have his pictures taken with me."
The insider went on to say: "When we pointed out that having a picture of them together would be great for Invictus coverage, he then said he never wanted to be in a picture with him. That then meant a ridiculous two-step to try and ensure that they were never pictured together."
According to the source, at the wheelchair basketball event, Beckham was seated with other VIPs and Harry and Meghan were meant to join them.
"So a whole area on the other side of the court had to be cleared of spectators and filled with Australian military, so Harry and Meghan could sit there instead," they continued, adding speculation that the Royal 'snub' may have been because the new duchess didn't want to share the limelight with Victoria on her first Royal tour.
