    Sheriff’s office slates Citizens Academy

    Carver County Sheriff Jason Kamerud is pleased to announce that the Carver County Sheriff’s Office is hosting a Citizens Academy in the fall of 2024.

    The Carver County Sheriff’s Office will start accepting applications for the Fall 2024 Citizens Academy on July 1. The Citizen’s Academy is a unique opportunity for citizens to learn more about how the Sheriff’s Office operates. Some of the topics that will be covered include a tour of the jail, a tour of the 911 dispatch Ccenter, K9, SWAT, investigations, defensive tactics demonstrations, and sheriff’s office vehicles and equipment.

    The six-week program will meet every Wednesday evening from 6 – 9 p.m., starting on Wednesday, Sept. 18, and conclude on Wednesday, Oct. 23. The program is limited to 15 participants. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, live in Carver County, and must be able to commit their time to at least a majority of the program. Applicants cannot be on probation or parole, and must pass a basic background check.
