MC Lyte Speaks On Hip-Hop Today & Returning With A New Album

In the history of Hip-Hop, we have seen our fair share of artists who have a great run and then fade into the background. We have seen rappers who came and went in an instant. And then… there are those one-of-a-kind artists who consistently evolve, adapt to the ever-changing landscape of music and have a career spanning decades, touching the lives of many generations.

MC Lyte falls into the latter category.

As one of the key figures of Hip-Hop’s golden age, the legendary MC continues to evolve and grow with the genre, while also branching out into other avenues. From rapping to acting to being “the voice” of our favorite awards shows (including the most recent BET Awards), MC Lyte’s longevity is one that every artist should strive for.

DJ Remedy caught up with the icon at the Broadcast Brunch during BET Awards Weekend to talk a bit about her career. She lets us know who she’s rocking with among today’s rap stars, and she gives us some details about her upcoming album – her first in nearly a decade – set to drop next month.
