Golden Retrievers Join in for Toddler's Bedtime Story in Moment of Pure Sweetness

A family of Golden Retrievers joined their human toddler sibling for a bedtime story and the moment caught on video is an absolute delight.

On July 10, 2024, TikTok user Riley the Golden Retriever (@hdbrosriley) shared a video of three gorgeous Golden Retrievers glued right in while listening to their parents read a book. Take a look!

It's only a 16-second clip, but that's more than enough time for anyone to fall in love with these sweet dogs and their adorable family.

"Reading a bedtime story to all of our babies," the text on the screen reads. And in the clip, the mom and dad are sitting in a floor crib with their young toddler.

Right beside them are their three Golden Retrievers, Riley, Millie, and Bear who look like they could be triplets, sitting right next to them, all eyes on the person who is reading the bedtime story.

The video point of view then changes to inside the crib where the parents pan across all those who are paying attention to the bedtime story and it's the cutest thing we've seen in a long time.

Mom is holding a book, reading a story about a bear. Their young toddler is listening to the story while flipping through the pages of another book.

Then the camera pans further to the left, where the dogs are, and one of the pups is lying down struggling not to fall asleep, another has his nose resting on the crib rail and is half-asleep, and the third dog is standing with the cutest typically happy Golden Retriever smile on their face.

Then dad gets out of the floor crib and all three dogs are now listening to mom read a story while their sweet toddler (who has a really cute stuffed Golden Retriever on his pillow) listens along and bounces out his energy.

Reading to your dogs might seem like a passive thing you just do because they're just around and listening, but there are actually some pretty significant benefits to reading to your dog, but more so when your kids read to a dog.

According to Psychology Today , many recent studies hint that when kids read to dogs, it can be a huge boost for their reading skills, even for kids who struggle.

"The results of this study seem to suggest that if your child is having trouble reading, one way in which you, as a parent, might help the situation is to first have your kid grab his or her favorite book," the site explains.

"Next, suggest to them that the family dog might enjoy hearing it as well. Then have the child read it out loud to the dog in short sessions while you sit nearby providing nonjudgmental support (just like your dog)."
