    LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — We have a long-awaited winner in a state house race in Luzerne County.

    Friday morning the election board counted 12 provisional ballots that were in legal limbo since the April primary.

    The results of that count put Mike Cabell at five and Jamie Walsh at seven, making Jamie Walsh the Republican nominee.

    Only three votes separated incumbent Mike Cabell and challenger Jamie Walsh for the Republican nomination in the 117th district prior to the 12 ballots being counted.

    With no Democratic candidate, Walsh will likely take the seat to represent a district that stretches from Drums to Harveys Lake.

    Mike Cabell Responds to Counting of Provisional Ballots stating;

    The 12 provisional ballots cast in the recent election were counted, resulting in a tally of 7-5 in favor of my opponent, Jamie Walsh. While we respect the process and the efforts of all involved in ensuring a fair count, this outcome brings the race to a five-vote margin with two ballots still not included in the count pending Walsh’s appeal.

    Despite this, our campaign remains steadfast in pursuing a fair and accurate election result. We are moving forward with an appeal to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court regarding the tabulation of write-in votes. Additionally, we are considering filing a petition for a recount to ensure every vote is accurately counted and every voice is heard.

    We believe in the democratic process and the importance of ensuring the integrity of our elections. Our team will continue to work diligently to ensure that the final result reflects
    the true will of the voters.

    Mike Cabell, 117th District Canidate
