LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Lawrence County jury convicted a man for “brutally beating” his 64-year-old mother, District Attorney Brent Cooper announced Thursday.

Nicholas Gobble was convicted of attempted second-degree murder for the July 9, 2023, assault.

According to Cooper’s office, Gobble “flew into a rage” and attacked his mother when she mentioned he would need to help pay for utilities in the home they shared. The assault resulted in eight broken ribs, a brain bleed and multiple cuts, lacerations and bruises to the 64-year-old.
