    Michigan State Police investigating 14 incidents of gunshot damage to transformers, other electrical systems

    (WWJ) A hefty cash reward is being offered as detectives search for information, and suspects, in the case of someone who's been shooting at electrical equipment.

    Michigan State Police say they are investigating 14 different incidents of gunshot damage to transformers, regulators, and other electric system over the past year — causing more than $250,000 in damage.

    Police said these shootings happened in Clinton, Eaton and Ionia counties, mostly during the overnight hours, leading to power outages in these areas.

    A motive for these crimes is unclear.

    There have been no injuries reported.

    As the investigation continues, the Electric Co-op is offering a reward of $9,999 to anyone in the public who can provide information that leads to the arrest conviction of the responsible party.
