Serena Williams Takes Shot At Drake Again, Crip Walks To ‘Not Like Us’ On Stage

Is this war? Serena Williams stole the show with her ‘Drake’ diss opening monologue at the 2024 ESPY Awards , which she hosted.

On Thursday night, the tennis icon hosted her first awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre , with her close friend Meghan Markle in the front row.

And right on the stage , in the spotlight , Serena Williams took aim at Drake while making fun of the rapper’s feud with Kendrick Lamar .

Kendrick Lamar’s metaphorical beatdown of Drake was so bad that months later, it is still being mentioned in various contexts outside of hip-hop .

But many fans speculate that  Ken’s fellow Comptonite, Serena Williams’, jabs are more than just breaking icebreakers to ward off stage fright. Peeps say the two (Williams and Drake) have been going at each other for a while.

Drake’s 2022 winter album release landed a direct hit on Serena Williams’ husband, Alexis Ohanian. The 37-year-old rapped on the song, “Sidebar, Serena, your husband a groupie / He claim we don’t got a problem but / No, boo, it is like you comin’ for sushi.”

But before Drake turned on Serena Williams’s husband, he feuded with Common over the tennis star .

Common revealed the feud stemmed from Drake dating his ex-girlfriend, Serena Williams. The tennis star and Common dated between 2007 and 2010. In 2011, Drake and Serena Willaims sparked romance rumors from 2011 to 2015.

Earlier this week, the tennis legend crowned Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ diss at Drake as the “jam” of the summer , adding that she will be “jamming” to hit anytime she hears it.

And she did. Right in between delivering her speech on the ESPY stage, Serena Williams crip walked anytime the DJ played ‘Not Like Us.’

“If I’ve learned anything this year, it’s that none of us… not a single one of us, not even me, should ever pick a fight with Kendrick Lamar,” she joked.

“He will make your hometown not like you. The next time Drake sits courtside at a Raptors game , they’re going to Forrest Gump him. ‘Seat’s taken.'”

Fans took to social media to express their reactions , with memes and reaction videos showcasing Serena Williams busting into the gang dance .
