Angela Hospice President and CEO Marti Coplai has announced her plan to retire in December and Executive Director Jamie LaLonde has been named to succeed her in December.

Coplai joined Angela Hospice in 2015 as executive director and assumed the position of president and CEO in March 2019. Over the course of Coplai’s tenure, she has led the Angela Hospice team to accomplish a number of initiatives, propelling the organization to where it is today, and ensuring sustainability for the future.

The most recent initiative Coplai led is the expansion of Angela Hospice services to north Oakland County. In addition to the 15-bed hospice residence at Lourdes Senior Community, expanded services will benefit the community through grief support groups and educational outreach.

LaLonde has been with Angela Hospice since May 2021, first as director of the Angela First Care Program before moving into the executive director role in January 2022.

Prior to coming to Angela Hospice, LaLonde worked for Glacier Hills Retirement Community as its administrator of memory care and resident services. She also is an adjunct lecturer with the University of Michigan School of Social Work.

“For almost 40 years, Angela Hospice has been a community resource that has helped countless people and their families walk the journey through the end of life experience and beyond,” LaLonde says. “I feel fortunate to have earned the opportunity to be part of its continuing legacy and lead this organization into the future.  I continue to be humbled each day working alongside such an incredible team and be able to bear witness to the life experiences of people who are in our care.”

LaLonde helped design the current Palliative Care Program structure at Angela Hospice and led the daily operations of the organization to achieve a 4-star hospice status rating granted by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. With her previous experience leading multi-level, multi-license senior living communities, LaLonde says she is eager to expand Angela Hospice’s in-patient and at home hospice, educational and grief care services.
