GORDO is ready to show the world his new energy and focus since rebranding from his old name Carnage. The 33-year-old producer recently announced his forthcoming album DIAMANTE will be out on July 26.

“It’s the most emotional project I’ve worked on in my life,” he said in a press statement, revealing that the album, titled after his actual first name, has been in the works for four years. “It features work from artists I’ve looked up to and artists who inspire me, some I’ve known for years and others I’ve met more recently.”

He got a bit more personal in his Instagram announcement for the project, revealing that he almost stepped away from music upon finishing it. “To be honest with you all… I thought about calling it quits after I dropped this album,” he wrote. “I felt a bit lost when I finished it because I couldn’t fathom something better than this… everything I’ve dreamed of is right here in this project… all of my [dream collabs] came true…so many talented people helped with this project.”

GORDO has yet to reveal the tracklist and features for DIAMANTE , but he has given fans some breadcrumbs of what can potentially be expected on the July 26 release. At the end of May, the Nicaraguan-American DJ shared “Cafecito” featuring Nicki Nicole and Sech. One month prior, he released “Fallin Luv” featuring Jeria. He also tapped the late Young Dolph for “Kill For This Sh*t” in February, his first single of 2024.

Most recently, he is known for being one of Drake’s go-to collaborators. He produced “ Rich Baby Daddy ” featuring Sexyy Red and Sza and “Gently” featuring Bad Bunny on the 6 God’s October 2023 album For All The Dogs . He also handled a slew of records from Drizzy’s June 2022 house album Honestly, Nevermind , namely “Currents,” “Calling My Name,” “Sticky,” and “Massive.”

The duo stirred up some commotion in May when they posted a photo with the caption, “You guys ready for summer 2024.” Fans assumed that could mean a follow-up to Honestly, Nevermind was on the way, especially after the “First Person Shooter” rapper promised “summer vibes” upon his beef with Kendrick Lamar ending. GORDO cleared up the confusion in an interview with Complex .

“I am being completely honest, I went over to his house just because I ran out of milk,” GORDO said. “So I went and got his because his fridge is like 2%, whole, Goat milk. He has everything. It’s crazy. So I went over there, got some stuff, and then I got out of there and I just took that photo just to f**k with people.”

As for a follow-up to Honestly, Nevermind , GORDO believes that the project should exist on its own and Drake should continue expanding as an artist. “I don’t want him to do that again. I want him to evolve,” he said. “Me personally, I don’t want to do that. But if he wants to do it, that’s on him.” Time will tell what the five-time Grammy winner does this summer and beyond, but one certainty is that GORDO has plenty of vibes coming on July 26.
