Atlanta Braves’ rookie right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach is coming off his best start of his career against the Philadelphia Phillies where he only allowed one run on seven hits with no walks. The 24-year-old right-hander recorded six strikeouts on his way to his second major-league victory as well. Earlier today, The Morning Shift talked about how Schwellenbach could play himself into the Braves’ postseason rotation if can continue pitching this way the rest of the season.

Robb Tribble asked Beau Morgan if Schwellenbach has a chance to earn a spot on the Braves’ postseason roster and Beau responded by saying “Hell yeah he does.” Tribble piggybacked off of Beau’s answer by saying “His makeup just seems different than all the other guys they always trot up here for spot starts. I think he’s different.”

Beau also said that he believes Schwellenbach would be on the Braves’ postseason roster if they were in a seven game series.

Now, the most important thing for Schwellenbach is to follow up the best start of his young MLB career thus far with another good outing against the San Diego Padres tonight, and show that he can be consistent when it comes to putting good outings together, and if Schwellenbach can do that, he may be making some postseason starts in year one of what so far looks like a promising major league career.
