The 76ers are re-signing Kyle Lowry to a one-year deal, bringing the 38-year-old back to Philly after he was brought in via trade with the Heat last season.

Lowry was a reliable veteran bench presence for the Sixers last season, and ultimately, the WIP Mornings crew universally gave the deal a thumbs up.

“I like it,” Joe DeCamara said. “The 38-year-old is a thing, because you’re trying to play into June, and there isn’t a lot of history of 38-year-olds being good enough in June. But I trust him, I like him, I appreciate him, and I think it’s worth a shot.”

Is it a shot that will last through the whole season? This will be Lowry’s 19 th season, and Joe wondered if the point guard could see himself dealt midseason, or if the Philly native and Villanova product was assured that he will be closing out his career in his own backyard.

“I think a lot of times they get signed to get traded,” Joe said. “You give guys some salary…Drummond when he was brought in here was traded, and I think he can get traded again. It’s away to tweak the team moving forward.”

“Do you think, with this being Kyle Lowry’s home town and possibly his last season, do you think they promised that they won’t trade him without him completely signing off on it?”
