Got a small kitchen but still want the benefit of having a cute kitchen island? We feel your pain! Small kitchens can be a real challenge when it comes to functionality and style, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up on the dream of having a fabulous island.

Luckily, TikTok creator Jaymi Poor has come up with a unique solution that is not only space-saving but also super stylish—making your own mini kitchen island! Check out how cute the whole thing looks (and how to make one yourself) in the video below.

Th kitchen in our home is very small so the island couldn’t be very big, but i wanted it to make a huge impact. These gorgeous turned legs from Carolina Leg Co. did not disappoint! I decided to paint them the same color as the rooms trim so it would stand out against the dark wood cabinets. #kitchen #smallkitchen #kitchenhacks #kitchendesign

Alright, so you've got a small kitchen and still want an island . If you want to do as Jaymi did, you will need a few things, namely four large legs (she uses a set of stunningly pretty turned legs from Carolina Leg Co.), a piece for the top, as well as some smaller framing boards for the sides.

Start out by flipping your top over. Your top can be whatever you want it to be, such as butcher block, wood covered with faux-marble, etc. You simply want to make sure you can drill into it where necessary.

Place the four legs at each corner, screw them into place so your island won't wobble, then use scrap or framing wood to fill in the gaps between each of the legs. This will take some measuring to get right, so make sure you check your math!

Jaymi then drills pocket holes through the scrap wood and into the legs to stabilize them, and reduce the need for unnecessary visible screw holes everywhere. The final step Jaymi takes is painting the legs and framing pieces. She decided to go with the same light cream color as the trim in her kitchen, which helped make the mini island really stand out in the best way possible from the darker wood around it.

How Can You Upgrade Your Mini Kitchen Island?

And there you have it! A mini kitchen island that is the perfect solution to a small space. You can also add locking casters to the bottoms of the legs to make the whole island moveable, adjust the height to suit your needs, or even add extra shelving—the possibilities here are practically endless! Not only does this cute island add a touch of charm to your kitchen, but it also provides additional counter space and storage, making your small kitchen so much more functional (not to mention prettier!)
