Former Bachelor contestant Ashley Iaconetti is taking issue with a recent interview of Kelly Ripa 's.
The broadcaster sat down with Bachelorette star Jenn Tran , and made some comments that rubbed Iaconetti the wrong way. Now, she's speaking out about how she felt some things Ripa said were disappointing.
“It disappoints me when I see that Kelly Ripa has such an ax to grind with The Bachelor franchise,” Iaconetti said on the Thursday, July 11, episode of the Almost Famous podcast. “Every time we have a lead go on the show to promote it, she always seems to be so skeptical of—a little bit of the lead, and their decision to be the lead—and also just the process.”
The former dating show contestant further described Ripa's perceived energy toward the broadcast, saying that she "just seems to really shame the show.”
“She loves to pick at The Bachelor and The Bachelorette ,” the 36-year-old said, adding there are “so many reality shows out there that are so much more trashy.”

Iaconetti's comments came as a result of a Monday, July 8, appearance when Tran visited Live with Kelly and Mark, and the married cohosts questioned why the physician assistant student desired to be on the show in the first place, instead of choosing to meet someone at "medical school," "the office," or "church."
“You’re drop-dead gorgeous,” Ripa complimented. “You could meet anybody anywhere, at any time. Why why why?”
“I have a question. Where did you meet your husband? On TV, no?” Tran responded, mentioning that the couple, in fact, met on set of All My Children in the ’90s.
“Those are not the same. We were both professional,” Ripa rebutted, before asking, “Are you acting on your show?"
She continued: "I didn’t marry [Mark’s character] Mateo Santos. I married Mark Consuelos .”
Though the back-and-forth could have been taken as a heated exchange, it's not the only time Ripa has displayed her apparent disdain for the reality show franchise, as Season 20 Bachelor lead Ben Higgins also spoke out about a similar experience with the longtime broadcaster when he appeared on Live With Kelly and Michael in 2016 .
After the visit, Higgins noted that the talk show host “definitely doesn’t like the show,” which “makes for an awkward interview.”
