    West Virginia man with cancer wins over $140,000 playing Ohio Lottery

    COLUMBUS, OH ( WTRF ) Melvin Stubbs III of West Virginia is grateful to win the $140,001 Rolling Cash 5 prize for the Monday, July 8, 2024 , draw.

    “I’ve been sick, so I had cancer. I think it’s a blessing to win,” he said.

    The day of the drawing he was spending time with his son and decided to go purchase a ticket.

    “I just went over the bridge to play my numbers like normal. Then when I checked at night, I seen I won,” he said.

    He said seeing the $140,000 made him feel overjoyed.

    “I was pretty happy about it. I couldn’t sleep that night,” he said.

    He says he plans to use his winnings to help his family.

    “I’m gonna try to save it up and help my wife because I hadn’t been able to work a few years,” he said.

    He will take home $100,800 after mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 28 percent.

    Peoples News & Book Mart #4, located at 412 Washington Blvd, sold the winning ticket.

    The winning numbers were: 4-5-29-30-31.

    Rolling Cash 5 is a daily draw game with drawings held seven days a week at 7:05 pm
