Scarlett Johansson Reveals Which ‘SNL’ Joke From Husband Colin Jost Made Her “Black Out”

Colin Jost and Michael Che ‘s annual joke swap on Saturday Night Live regularly goes viral for the shocking digs they force each other to make on the air, especially when Jost is made to joke about his movie star wife, Scarlett Johansson .

During the Weekend Update joke swap, Che and Jost write jokes for the other ‘anchor,’ but they do not know the jokes or the punchlines until they’re reading them on the air, leading to some hilariously painful moments.

Johansson finally spoke out about the segment during a recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show , where they aired the most appropriate joke they could find from the comedy show.

“ChatGPT – Oh, god – has released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johansson’s AI character in Her ,” Jost said in a clip from a May episode of Saturday Night Live . “Which I’ve never bothered to watch, because without that body, what’s the point of listening?” Despite laughing with Che, Jost covered his face in embarrassment.

Johansson told Kelly Clarkson that the joke made her feel like she needed to “go into witness protection after that night.”

“Like, I am absolutely terrified we’re gonna be like, targeted. It’s so bad,” she joked. “I black out for that period of the night. I don’t — I actually don’t remember it.”

She then pointed out that they aired a rather “tame” joke compared to the other ones Jost has been forced to make during the joke swap.

“It’s daytime [television], we kept it tame,” Clarkson agreed.

Johansson admitted that she finds the segment to be “brutal.”

“I feel like every year it gets worse, it’s just terrible,” she said. She also claimed she didn’t even remember that Her joke being made.

“It’s painful,” she admitted. “I mean I really do — I actually don’t remember that segment. I fully blacked out.”

The couple often support each other’s careers. Johansson recently joked that, because of their prenuptial agreement, Jost is legally required to appear in all of her movies, including her latest, Fly Me To The Moon .

“Colin … I think he had to do it ’cause it’s, like, in our prenuptial agreement,” she joked. “If I ask him to do something, he has to be there to support me. He has to be in every one of my films.”
