Presumed Innocent ‘s inaugural, Jake Gyllenhaal-fronted case is poised to close later this month, but the series itself is not adjourning. (Legal puns, FTW!)

Apple TV+ announced Friday that the courtroom thriller — based on Scott Turow’s New York Times bestselling novel — has been renewed for Season 2, which the streamer confirms will revolve around a “brand new case.” However, a show rep declined to say whether the new season will feature an entirely new cast.

Gyllenhaal will at the very least return behind-the-scenes, once again serving as an exec producer alongside David E. Kelley, J.J. Abrams, Rachel Rusch Rich, Dustin Thomason and Matt Tinker.

Presumed Innocent ‘s first season has been a commercial hit for Apple TV+, ranking as the service’s No. 1 most viewed drama of all time. Reviews have been strong as well, with TVLine’s Dave Nemetz calling it “ a sleek and riveting legal thriller ” buoyed by “great performances” and Kelley’s “courtroom expertise.”

In addition to Gyllenhaal, the Season 1 ensemble includes Ruth Negga, Peter Sarsgaard, Bill Camp, Elizabeth Marvel, Lily Rabe and Noma Dumezweni.

The Season 1 finale drops July 24.
