My Stand-In released its final episode 12 on Friday, July 12, 2024, at 8 p.m. ICT on iQIYI. The popular fantasy Thai BL drama followed Ming (Up Poompat Iam-samang) and Joe’s (Poom Phuripan Sapsangsawat) journey. After the latter got into an accident and miraculously returned to life, he was put into a similar situation again. The recent episode saw Joe getting stuck between life and death yet again. My Stand-In ending sees him making a decision.

Episode 12 of My Stand-In sees the new Joe fighting for his life in the hospital. As Joe walks towards the door, he remembers the hardships he experienced as a stuntman. He also remembers his complicated relationship with Ming.

As Joe opens the door, Ming asks if he no longer loves him. The latter continues, “Don’t you want me to wait for you to come home anymore?” While stuck between reality and the afterlife, Ming hugs him from behind as Joe reminisces about his happy moments with the former. He also remembers how Ming fought their relationship.

After Ming repeatedly calls out his name, Joe finally opens his eyes. While choosing to stay alive, the latter says, “No matter how many times I gotta choose, I still choose the same thing. Because someone is waiting for me.” The following flashback shows how Ming learned about Joe’s accident in the past.

Afterward, the former wakes up and is relieved to find the latter next to him. Ming then asks Joe not to disappear again. Furthermore, the former looks after the latter as he recovers in the hospital. Wut and Sol then visit Joe and ask him not to make them worry about him again.

My Stand-In final episode (12) spoilers

Sol talks to Ming and shares how he and Joe got close when he joined the industry. After learning that he liked guys, the former took an opportunity in Korea to distance himself from him.

However, Sol missed him and returned to Bangkok for Joe, but Ming got to him first. The former says that Joe got a second chance at life and still chose Ming. Sol then asks the latter to promise to protect the former and not let anyone hurt him. Ming answers that he has already promised that to himself. Sol then says that even if he had come first, Joe would still have chosen Ming.

Does Poom Phuripan die in My Stand-In finale?

Poom Phuripan’s character, Joe, does not die in the My Stand-In finale as he chooses to stay alive for Ming. While the former recovers, the latter’s mother visits him at the hospital. She comes across Joe’s mother and reveals that she was the one who sent documents to her place.

Ming’s mother then asks her not to be mad at Joe and says their sons love each other. The former also asks how Joe’s mother came to accept that her son likes men. She answers that she did not at first, but after they had a fight and Joe almost ended his life, she realized, “No matter which kind of love it was, it’s all ordinary.” Joe’s mother continues and says what is not ordinary is “a mother who didn’t care about her son’s feelings.” Later, both the mothers visit Joe together as they make up with their respective sons.

Does Up Poompat & Poom Phuripan’s Thai drama have a happy or sad ending?

While Ming and Joe watch a shooting star, the former heartedly apologizes to the latter for everything he did in the past. Joe then says that the accident and being in the new body wasn’t Ming’s fault alone. The former says, “It’s because I chose to take that job.” Joe asks Ming to stop blaming himself and forgives him, and asks him to forgive himself, too.

Furthermore, Jim escorts Joe to Ming’s parents’ house. The latter’s father then confronts the former and asks why money couldn’t buy him. Joe says he’ll return the money he borrowed from Ming to him.

His father then threatens the former with a gun and says he can make him disappear anytime. The former asks if Joe still wants to be with Ming. He answers that despite almost dying, he still returned to the latter. “Because without him, I don’t know what I’ll be living for,” Joe says. Ming’s father then says he doesn’t like him because the two’s “crazy love” almost made him lose his son.

After losing Joe in the accident, Ming was in poor condition. He did not eat and refused to go home while he waited for the former to return. The latter’s father then says he does not want his son to be sad like that again. He asks Joe to promise he will not disappear and make Ming sad. Afterward, Joe joins Ming and his family for a meal. The latter’s father also returns his business to him after previously kicking him out.

Later, Tong thanks Joe for saving his life, and Ming gives him a second chance. The former also makes up with his wife, May. My Stand-In ending sees Joe take up the lead role opportunity with the condition that he will audition like the other actors. Meanwhile, Sol returns to Korea after bidding farewell to Joe. Elsewhere, Mike takes Jim from Ming as his secretary.

My Stand-In ends on a happy note as Joe continues to live in the other Joe’s body and gets officially together with Ming. The pair continue to live together at the former’s house. Eventually, Joe also makes his acting dream come true.
