KALAMAZOO, Mich. (WOOD) — Two more juveniles now face charges after shots were fired at a public swimming pool in Kalamazoo last month, the prosecutor says.

The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety said they are 13- and 15-year-old boys. County Prosecutor Jeff Getting said charges of carrying a concealed weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm and being a minor in possession of a firearm were filed against both. The boys were taken to the county juvenile home.

A third juvenile who was previously charged has already pleaded to carrying a concealed weapon, Getting said.

Shots were fired on the evening of June 19 at the city’s Kik Pool on Walter St street near Lake Street, KDPS said.

About 15 seconds of surveillance video released by KDPS on Friday — which does not include audio — shows two people standing just outside the fence surrounding the pool. One, wearing a black T-shirt, appears to pull a gun from his waistband, turn around, point the gun and fire a shot. Around the same time, the other, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, seems to duck. The two then take off running. The person in the sweatshirt then turns around, pulls a gun and fires two or three shots. They keep running, turning back to apparently fire a few more shots. At one point, dirt kicks up near the pool fence, apparently as a bullet hit the ground — it’s unclear exactly where that round came from.

Some other people in the playground near the pool can be seen running away.

No one was hurt, though an unoccupied vehicle was damaged, police said.

Police say they were on scene within minutes.

Police said they recovered two guns and a juvenile was arrested at the scene.
