Few things are more heartbreaking than seeing a tiny puppy with their ribs showing. As animal lovers, it's hard to imagine what a helpless creature in this condition may have endured. Though not all scenarios like this have happy endings, this one does.
Thanks to a foster family who welcomed her into the pack, she’s becoming the dog she meant to be. Not only has she almost doubled in size in only a week, but more importantly, she now knows what love is.

When she joined the crew (@ rescuekbevacqua ) of rescue dogs in this loving family, she was so emaciated and weak that she could barely stand on her own. But it didn’t take long for her to find her strength.

It’s incredible to see what love can do! To help put some weight on, she had her first meal in her new home and then received her first snuggles. After getting a good night’s rest in a warm, soft bed, she woke up to the first day of her new world. Now that she had a safe place to sleep and plenty of nutritious food in her belly, she had the energy to play for the first time with a plethora of toys and treats.
Her very first Greenie was almost as big as she was, given her tiny frame. She also took her first bath and made her first friend. It’s hard to imagine a place better to snuggle than next to a fluffy Golden Retriever ! This lucky puppy even attended her first birthday party, took a trip to the vet, and dined outside at a restaurant. She was even feeling spry enough to steal her first shoe! It’s all good days from here, sweet Roo.
What Does a Dog Foster Parent Do?
Foster parents provide homes for dogs in desperate situations and give them food, housing, safety, playtime, and love. Instead of being in a noisy shelter where they may be stressed or sick, these dogs can be in a positive environment where they can thrive. It gives them a chance at happiness as they await their forever family, and this helps many dogs to be socialized , less fearful of new situations, and more likely to be adopted. These joyful experiences also give them a better chance at success, making them less likely to be returned.
