According to Flowers — who appeared on today’s episode of Scheana Shay ‘s Scheananigans podcast —Dennis is “doing really good” in light of her legal woes. The Charleston native was arrested in May for allegedly driving under the influence and driving with an open container after being involved in a three-car collision in Goose Creek, SC.
Flowers, who confirmed her exit from Southern Charm ahead of Season 10, said Dennis was a shoulder to lean on when she got fired from the Bravo reality show.
“Talking to her about things and having her open up about — she never really did any kind of press or interviews or podcasts when she was off the show,” Flowers said of Dennis, who left Southern Charm in 2023.
She continued, “[Dennis] was just like … ‘After the show, I was just kind of like dropped back down on Earth and was expected to figure it out.’ She was like, ‘I kind of had to find my new identity. Like, I was so attached to this show for so long — age 19 and up — and now all the sudden this is gone.'”
Flowers implied that it was a mental struggle for Dennis, who starred on the first eight seasons of Southern Charm, to reacclimatize into the real world once she no longer had the show.
“To feel like you’re so important, so wanted and everyone’s interested in you to suddenly, like, OK, you’re not wanted anymore, bye — she was like, ‘That did something to my mental and I had to take time for myself,'” Flowers explained. “And she really seems like she’s done that.”
Flowers added that Dennis “has this energy that I’ve never seen her have before,” noting that she hopes the mom-of-two will find her way back into the spotlight in the near future.
“She’s so funny. She’s so smart. She’s so creative. And I just think that got suppressed after being off the show and having to take that time to find herself,” Flowers said. “I hope she does get to that place of being ready to come out and be Kathryn again. She’s doing really good.”
