    4-Part Radio Docuseries ‘Lennon 360’ Celebrates the Expansive Reissue of John Lennon’s 1973 Album ‘Mind Games’

    A huge new box set exploring John Lennon’s 1973 solo album Mind Games was released on Friday, July 12. To celebrate the expansive Mind Games: The Ultimate Collection’s arrival, SiriusXM’s The Beatles Channel has debuted the first episode of a four-part docuseries titled Lennon 360. The series delves into the story behind the album while looking at the late former Beatles member’s life and music.

    Lennon 360 is presented by BBC radio host Chris Hawkins. It features new interviews with some of Lennon’s friends, associates, and collaborators. The presentation also offers rare and previously unheard recordings, including studio outtakes, contributed by John’s estate.

    Lennon 360’s first episode, which debuted July 12 at 11 a.m. ET, focuses specifically on the making of Mind Games. It features interviews with all of the musicians involved in the sessions.

    Episode two, three, and four feature respective biographies renowned rock photographer Bob Gruen, longtime Lennon spokesperson Elliot Mintz, and Plastic Ono Band bassist Klaus Voormann. Episode two premieres on July 12 at 5 pm ET. The third episode debuts on Saturday, July 13, at 12 am ET. The final episode premieres July 13 at 3 pm ET. All four episodes of Lennon 360 will re-air multiple times on The Beatles Channel through July 18.

    Lennon 360 was executive produced by John and Yoko Ono’s son, Sean Ono Lennon.

    Details About the Mind Games Ultimate Collection Reissues

    As previously reported, the expanded Ultimate Collection editions of Mind Games feature newly remixed audio, with Deluxe and Super Deluxe versions offering a deep dive into the sessions for the album.

    The Deluxe and Super Deluxe versions present each song in multiple forms, including new mixes, rough demos, outtakes, and more.

    Both Deluxe and Super Deluxe box sets feature six CDs and two Blu-ray discs. The CDs feature Ultimate Mixes, Elements Mixes, Elemental Mixes, Out-takes, Raw Studio Mixes, and Evolution Documentary mixes. As for the Blu-rays, they boast three high-res versions of the audio featured on the CDs, plus additional content.

    The Super Deluxe edition is presented in a 13-inch clear plastic cube that’s a replica of Yoko Ono’s 1966 “Danger Box” art piece. The cube houses nine interlocking boxes of various sizes and shapes that offer a variety of hidden secrets, surprises, and puzzles.

    Included in the package are the aforementioned CDs and Blu-rays; a seven-LP vinyl version of the collection; and several other box-set presentations.

    Only 1,100 copies of the limited-edition release will be available worldwide. Sean Lennon produced the project, in collaboration with Grammy-winning producer/engineer Paul Hicks and engineer Sam Gannon.

    About Mind Games

    Released in October 1973, Mind Games was Lennon’s fourth solo studio effort. The 12-song album reached No. 9 on the Billboard 200 and yielded one hit single, the title track, which peaked at No. 18 on the Hot 100 singles chart.
