Luxury hotels are, well, a luxury, but they often allow guests to enjoy a unique and engaging experience unlike that of an ordinary hotel. Sure, there are luxury hotels that are essentially upscale versions of their cheaper counterparts, but many of them go above and beyond, giving the guests a chance to stay in beautiful locales like an authentic European chateau, an overwater bungalow in the South Pacific, or, as in this case, a working Tuscan farm.

Though farmstay accommodations can be quite beautiful and idyllic, never before has one looked as glamorous as this Tuscan gem. This farm resort was so unbelievably gorgeous that luxury travel expert Michelle gave it a glowing recommendation even after several service snags!

A luxury farmstay in Tuscany, Italy special enough to overcome various service issues 🌞 📍 Borgo Santo Pietro #tuscany #tuscanyitaly #luxuryhotel #luxurytravel #borgosantopietro #italyitinerary #italytravel #hoteltour #traveltips #laxtoluxury // luxury italy itinerary, borgo santo pietro resort tour, where to stay in tuscany italy, what to do in tuscany italy

I don't mean to talk down the smaller, more modest farmstays out there, but this place is simply in a whole other league. The Borgo Santo Pietro, which Michelle (aka @laxtoluxury ) isn't just a farm; it's an enormous, sprawling country estate encompassing hundreds of acres of gardens, farmland, and luxury villas. The property looks like the setting of a romantic movie set in the Italian countryside (although it also immediately reminded me of Michael Corleone's Sicilian villa in The Godfather - I don't know what that says about me).

While the idyllic property was beyond beautiful and the amenities luxurious, Michelle did acknowledge that the service let her down at times, such as when they misscheduled her cooking class. However, every time their service slipped, the hotel's staff always came back strong - for instance, making up for Michelle's cooking class snafu with a private cooking class led by the resort's head chefs.

If anything, the biggest service slips ended up working in Michelle's favor. When her initial junior garden suite ended up having a room issue, the resort upgraded her to the larger pool garden suite (which cost roughly an additional $2.8k per night) at no additional cost. I'd consider that a major win!

A Stay at the Borgo Santo Pietro Estate

As Michelle said, practically everything at the resort was farm-to-table, from the food served in their on-site restaurants to the en-suite toiletries. The Borgo Santo Pietro Estate is centered around a 300-acre organic farm, 25 acres of which are devoted to vineyards. They make their own wine, cultivate their own artisinal cheese and yogurt from sheep's milk, harvest honey from their apiaries, raise their own livestock, and grow a vast array of fruits, vegetables, nuts, and herbs.

Obviously, cooking classes are a popular activity at the resort, but if you really want to get your hands dirty to help produce your food from scratch, guests are welcome to participate in farm activities like egg collecting, sheep milking, cheese making, and visiting the farm's animals. If you'd prefer to kick back and take it easy, though, there's no end to the resort's more leisurely offerings, from spa services to painting and floristry classes and much more. You can hike, bike, or swim your way across the resort's large estate, or you can even rent a Vespa or Fiat 500 and tour the medieval Tuscan villages nearby!

It goes without saying, but this is a luxury resort, as you probably surmised from Michelle's allusions to the four-digit nightly room rates there. If you're just looking for a serene farm getaway, there are plenty of other beautiful farmstays in Tuscany and around the world that will offer an authentic, rustic experience at a much more affordable price. But if you're willing to seriously splurge on a once-in-a-lifetime, ultra-deluxe vacation, this little slice of Italian heaven is well worth considering!
