LAURENS, S.C. (WSPA) – Summer is coming to an end, which means school is right around the corner and it’s time to purchase supplies.

Residents in Laurens County showed their support by bringing school supplies and donations to the “Fill the Cruiser” school drive on Friday.

The school supplies drive was hosted by the Laurens County Sheriff’s Department, dedicated to support local students in need as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

“We see the same people that they have a need themselves to try and help others,” said Laurens Co. Sheriff, Don Reynolds. “That’s pretty touching to me when you see people that are down and out, need help, and they’re helping others too…that’s pretty good.”

Donations included bookbags, notebooks, packs of paper, pencils, binders and more. Donations can still be dropped off at the Sheriff’s Office, 216 W Main Street in Laurens, during normal business hours until July 26th.

Sheriff Reynolds said to make sure to stop by the giveaway event, which will be hosted on July 27 from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at the Laurens Co. Courthouse.
