Captain America: Brave New World is a real movie! And they have finally released a teaser trailer for the next chapter in the Captain America mythos. Marvel Studios unleashed visuals for the upcoming film on Friday (July 12), showing off Anthony Mackie, the MCU’s new Cap, seemingly caught in the middle of a politically divided Washington, D.C.

Mackie’s Sam Wilson, previously known as The Falcon, is contacted by U.S. President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, played by Harrison Ford, to become a U.S. Agent as the new Captain America. The teaser shows an assassin attempting to take out Ross, which Wilson quickly thwarts before fleeing as more double agents enter the fray. Fans are then shown a rapid-fire slew of action consisting of new characters, such as the controversial Israeli superheroine Sabra, played by Shira Haas, fan-favorite Danny Ramirez returning as the new Falcon, and several shots of Giancarlo Esposito playing a mysterious new role.

The teaser culminates with Ross seemingly transforming into the Red Hulk, who then catches Captain America’s shield and flings it down.

Many fans have speculated that Esposito may be playing George Washington Bridge or better known as G.W. in the Marvel Comics adaptation. Bridge is an ex-gunman who then becomes an agent for S.H.E.I.L.D before becoming a commander with the team. Interestingly enough, S.H.E.I.L.D no longer exists in the MCU, so it’s unclear what G.W Bridge’s role will be in the film if that is even who Esposito is playing.

Other easter eggs in the film include a subtle shot of the remains of a Celestial from the 2021 Eternals film, specifically the remains of Tiamut. Additionally, during a scene depicting a summit in Japan, a logo in the background resembles Tiamut’s hand.

Overall, the film carries the espionage thriller vibes of the critically acclaimed Captain America and the Winter Soldier , harkening back to the MCU’s golden era.

Captain America: Brave New World is set to hit theaters on Feb. 14, 2025.
