A sweet man shared the story of a 3-legged cat who went missing, prompting their family to search frantically and how he was able to help out.

On July 9, 2024, TikTok user Buddy and Mikes Pal (@buddyandmikespal) shared the story and a video of the sweet 3-legged cat reunited with their family. Take a look!

"You guys are not going to believe this story," the man says in the video while showing footage from his outdoor security camera. Talk about divine intervention."

In the clip, you can see a few kids outside looking around. It turns out they were trying to find their beloved three-legged cat. The kids asked if he would be able to help them search for their cat, who had been missing for four days at that point.

"Of course, I was all over it and said I'd be more than happy to help, and there was a search party organized for Friday with almost 100 people who would help find their cat," he explained.

But, he had a feeling that it wouldn't end well, sharing that in his 20 years living there, cats who had gone missing weren't found alive. Of course, he kept that to himself and told the kids he would be there to help look.

The footage changes and the man says that it now shows the outside camera two hours later, around 10:30 at night. He explains that he's just sitting there watching TV.

But in the video, we can see a black and white cat slowly start to walk up the steps on his porch. The video explains in text that he's never seen this cat before, and the kids whose cat went missing didn't live that close to him for this to be their cat.

"They live roughly four blocks away," the text on the video shares, "and not even the same street."

In the footage outside his house, the cat is staring at his house, and the man sees this live on his security camera. "Just staring at my door," he said. I couldn't believe this."

While staring at the man's door, the cat starts to meow, so the man decides to get up and see if he can interact with the cat. The cat gets scared and runs away but does come back.

Now, he realizes that this is the missing three-legged cat. "This cat just keeps staring at my door," he said.

The rest of the video shows the man going outside slowly and attempting to get the cat to trust him enough to come near. After a quick worry that the cat would run away a third time, he changed his mind, and the cat walked right up to him. He scooped up the three-legged cat.

The man reunited the cat with his family, which was a touching moment. People in the comments felt so, too.

"He came up to that door like, 'Hey man, sorry to bother you, I’ve got a missing kid, and I think he was just here!'" one viewer joked.

"100 people were going to organize a search for a cat?" shared someone else, surprised. "I wanna live in your neighborhood."

"The cat could smell the boy was there 2 hours later and looking at the door thinking the boy must be inside," someone else guessed, "he is looking for the boy."

What Should You Do If Your Cat Goes Missing?

According to the Humane Society of the United States , if your cat goes missing, doing a search of the neighborhood is the best first step.

"Ask friends and neighbors to help with the search, and check under decks and porches, in garages and sheds, and other places where a cat could hide or get trapped," they explain. "Keep in mind that a cat who is unused to being outside, or a cat lost in an unfamiliar area, will likely be scared and won’t respond to your calls. It can take a few days before they relax enough to emerge from their hiding spot."

You can also put up posters so people know to keep their eyes out for a missing cat. Hopefully, you have your cat microchipped, and you can notify your local shelter that your cat is lost.

"Submit lost reports to your local animal shelters and animal control agency, and ask if there are other local animal welfare organizations that may have your pet," the Human Society of the United States shares. "Depending on where you live, the shelter may only be able to hold a lost cat for as little as 72 hours before placing them for adoption, so don’t delay."
