Two things are true — you love free festival tickets and local nonprofits love volunteers.

Bumbershoot and Amazon are putting two and two together through their new Bumbershoot Gives Back program, which is exchanging 2,000 free festival tickets for volunteer time at local food banks.

To cash in on this deal, sign up at one of seven listed local nonprofits over the summer and boom — you’ll be gushing over the cat circus in no time.

Nonprofits participating in the program include Asian Counseling & Referral Service, North Helpline, University District Food Bank, Rainier Valley Food Bank, Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank, Tilth Alliance, and Teen Feed.

As part of the program, Amazon is donating 90,000 pounds of food to regional food banks. The first 30,000-pound portion was distributed last week to the Asian Counseling & Referral Service, with the rest to be allotted over the summer.
