'DWTS' Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy Celebrate New Addition to Their Family With Sweet Photo

Peta Murgatroyd and Maksim Chmerkovskiy have become parents for a third time!

The excited couple announced the birth of their son with a sweet photo shared in a joint Instagram post on Friday, July 12.

“He is officially evicted from his mom and he is sooooo cute!!!!” Chmerkovskiy wrote in the post’s caption. “Birth details later but for now we wanted to let you all know that mom and baby are doing perfect, and delivery took around 47 seconds total!”

The Dancing with the Stars alums thanked their friends and followers for “the beautiful messages we have been receiving,” which they added were “very much appreciated.”

In the photo, Murgatroyd, 37, reclined in a hospital bed while holding her little one in her arms. She stared down lovingly at her infant son, who was wrapped in a blanket and wore a pink and blue beanie on his tiny head. Only a small bit of his face was visible in the angle of the selfie taken by his dad.

Meanwhile, Chmerkovskiy, 44, had one hand behind his wife’s pillow as he posed next to her hospital bed. He looked straight into the camera, a proud look on his face as he absorbed the day’s events.

Earlier on Friday, the then-expecting couple alerted their Instagram followers that they were at Cedars-Sinai in Los Angeles, Calif., anticipating their baby’s arrival. An amusing video that Chmerkovskiy shared a couple of hours later explained that he had been “training for the worst sleep of my life on a tiny hospital couch.” In the video, he alternated between trying to get comfortable by reclining on a marble kitchen countertop, on three small chairs he had lined up side by side and on a tiny rocking chair.

The baby’s arrival came about five months after the couple’s pregnancy announcement . At the time, Murgatroyd admitted the pregnancy was “very unexpected,” as she had given birth to their second child just a few months earlier. Timing aside, she told their fans they were “sooooo happy and so ready to be a family of 5 soon!”
