Table & Vine, Yuengling Brewery raise $12K for local veterans

WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Table & Vine along with Yuengling Brewery presented a check worth $12,232 to raise money for our local veterans.

“It’s called Lagers for Heroes, it’s an in-store fundraising program where all of the money raised stays right here in Massachusetts to help the local veterans and their families,” said Jim Lowe, District Manager at Yuengling.

The fundraiser was derby style, with their employees at checkout. The top four fundraisers were presented a small gift as a thank you from Yuengling.

“We are so happy that we can donate our time, resources and help out,” said Steve Thibault, Corporate Sales Manager with Big Y and Table & Vine.

Back in 2018, Table & Vine started their Lagers for Heroes fundraiser and raised $750, now they are raising over $12,000 with the help of the community.

“It’s a partnership that we’ve built and it’s become more than that, it’s become a friendship,” said Thibault.

Dollar by dollar, all of the money in the fundraiser is the generosity of the local community.

“It’s family, it really is and you see people step up and forward and they understand the program now that we’ve done it for so many years in a row and people are happy to contribute,” said Thibault.

It truly means a lot for everybody involved, especially the veterans, and for one person 22News spoke to, they said this is their way of supporting their family who served.

“It’s a real personal thing for me. My dad served in Korea, I have a lot of family members that have served, myself didn’t, so this is sort of my way of giving back and pay respect to those who have served,” said Lowe.

Over the years, Table & Vine has raised over $30,000 for veterans through this fundraiser.

“The United States is often deploying our soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen all across the world and when they come back, we need to support them,” said Christine Tron with the U.S. Army.

One employee raised over $2,000 by herself as a part of the fundraiser.
