TUSCOLA, Ill. (WCIA) — Construction and renovations are nearing completion at a beloved chocolate and ice cream parlor in Tuscola.

Flesor’s Candy Kitchen posted an update on its Facebook page Thursday , saying that its building is starting to look “somewhat normal.” The north wall of the building and its brick work was recently completed, and staff said the renovations are in the home stretch.

The 150-year-old building has been under renovation since May , when a prior renovation project revealed much more severe damage to the building: rotten wooden beams, bowing walls and loose bricks. The business has remained open throughout the renovations, even as the work has necessitated street and sidewalk closures .

Staff said that although renovation work is nearing completion, there is still work to be done. Some of it will be on the inside, including cleaning, while the business is still waiting on new windows to be installed.

Staff also urged people to remain outside of the caution tape and barricades, which are there for pedestrians’ safety.
