MIDLAND, Texas (KMID/KPEJ) – Midland ISD recently released results from the 2024 Advanced Placement exams.

The district said an increased number of MISD students took AP exams, with the passage rate of those achieving a score of at least three out of five passing previously set goals.

2,095 MISD students from Midland High, Legacy High, Midland Freshman, Legacy Freshman, Early College HS, and Young Women’s Leadership Academy took a total of 3,619 AP exams across 28 courses.

The district said that represents an increase of 17% of participating students and 27% of total exams taken from 2023. Of those exams taken, 36% earned scores of three, four, or five, surpassing the district’s goal of 35% and marking an improvement from last year’s 29%.

“The dedication and hard work of our students and educators have truly paid off,” said MISD Associate Superintendent Ashley Osborne. “These results reflect our commitment to academic excellence and providing the best educational opportunities for our students.”

The percent of Legacy High School students that earned a score of three or higher jumped from 51% to 56%, with the number of total students earning a 3 more than doubling that level of success in 2020 or 2021.

Meanwhile, Midland High students earning a score of three or better jumped 14%, to 37%. The district said this is double the number of achieving students since 2021.
