BLAKESLEE, MONROE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU)— Area restaurants and vendors say race weekend is always sure to be a success.

“It’s like the black Friday of the restaurants in the Poconos. We kick off our summer rush with the Pocono race,” said John Braun, General Manager of Murphy’s Loft.

Restaurants along Route 115 are gearing up for a busy weekend.

“Everyone that’s available is on this weekend. We’re busy from open to close. Lunch dinner, breakfast, we’re full staffed,” stated Braun.

With people visiting the Poconos from across the country, local businesses say they anticipate big crowds every year.

“It’s a real busy weekend. Meet a lot of interesting people. We get a lot of vendors and pit crews and sometimes racers,” said Lena Kunath, a waitress at Woody’s Country House.

Vendors from near and far also come to the area to get in on the action.

“This is one of our better races. We have a lot of people come in from a lot of states, Canada, so it’s very exciting happy to be here,” added Crystal Leith of Sports Cards Etc.

In addition to the sales race weekend rings in, sellers say the energy and excitement also make the days worthwhile.

“Party central and the people that I’ve met up here are amazing. They’re just fun,” said Miranda Frazier of Sports Cards Etc.

Route 115 has been busy as businesses expect a busy weekend in the Poconos.
