    The Tazewell County Fiddlers’ Convention is back for its 21st year

    TAZEWELL, WV (WVNS) – Whether you’re a fan of rock and roll, rap or even country, the influence of music stretches far and wide.

    But did you know the Appalachian mountains have their own diverse form of music?

    With influences from bluegrass, blues, to even gospel music, Appalachian music has quite the wide range.

    Over in Tazewell County, they showcase this influence with the Tazewell County Fiddlers’ Convention.

    Summer music series in Oak Hill

    Our own 59News reporter Matt Cassada had the chance to go down to Tazewell County and see the festivities of night one.

    You can check the video above with the sights and sounds of the convention, including an interview with Cynthia Farmer, the Executive Director of the Historic Crab Orchard Museum.

    If you missed the festivities for Friday, not to worry.

    They’ll be operating the convention on Saturday, starting at 10 A.M. at the Historic Crab Orchard Museum all the way until 8 P.M. with the conclusion of an Award Ceremony.
