CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. — The Columbia River Drug Task Force (CRDTF) received $150,000 in grant funding from the Washington State Department of Commerce.

According to Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison, this is a critical boost for the task for its leads.

The grant also comes when funding has been significantly reduced for similar teams statewide.

The CRDTF includes members from the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Wenatchee Police Department, East Wenatchee Police Department, Washington State Department of Corrections, and Homeland Security Investigations.

The awarded funding will play a crucial role in sustaining and advancing these initiatives, ensuring that the quality of life our served communities expect and deserve remains upheld.

In a 2023 report, CRDTF seized over $76,000 in cash and $175,000 in bank accounts. Additionally, the unit seized nearly 5,500 grams of methamphetamine, 750 grams of cocaine, 24,970 fentanyl pills, and 74.6 grams of pure fentanyl powder.
