Kan purchased the Marconi Point property with a vision to transform it into a farm and sanctuary. She was committed to nurturing the land and contributing to the ecosystem.

“I purchased this land with the dream of creating a farm that could give back to the community and connecting to and honoring my father’s farm from my childhood,” said Kan. “My first home in the U.S. at 16 was at Brigham Young University-Hawaii, so I felt deeply connected to this land.”

The property is home to various indigenous and endangered species, including Laysan albatross and yellow-faced bees.

NSCLT will work with state and federal conservation officials, partner organizations, and the community to help ensure the preservation of environment for albatross and other native species.

“We appreciate Ms. Kan’s donation,” said Adam Borrello NSCLT Executive Director. “This land will provide strategic access to critical restoration and stewardship efforts. The goal is to provide a safe haven for threatened and endangered native animal and plant species by recreating the habitat while respecting the cultural significance of the area.”

This donation will enable the NSCLT to implement long-term strategies to protect and sustain the natural ecosystems of the North Shore. For more information visit their website.
