Prince Harry is set to reveal how his legal battle with the tabloid press became a “central piece” in the ongoing rift with his family.

The Duke of Sussex will appear in an explosive ITV documentary tonight charting the egregious and illegal methods some journalists used to gain access to the voicemail accounts of celebrities and public figures.

“Yeah, that’s certainly a central piece to it,” he reveals in a trailer, having been asked about the impact of the phone hacking scandal on his relationship with his family. “But, you know, that’s a hard question to answer because anything I say about my family results in a torrent of abuse from the press.”

He won his privacy case against Mirror Group newspapers last December after a High Court judge ruled his own phone had been hacked. The prince is still involved in legal cases against the Daily Mail and The Sun publishers.

The documentary will also feature other high profile celebrities including Hugh Grant, Charlotte Church and Paul Gascoigne, whose lives were similarly ripped apart by the scandal.
