Palm Beach County man closes in on Guy Fieri glory. Your vote could take him all the way

A Lake Worth Beach man's one-pan creamy lemon garlic chicken recipe might have just the right something to take him to culinary glory in Guy Fieri's "Big Flavor, Bigger Heroes Flavortown Recipe Contest." The dish has already landed him in the top 10.

Tom Jasinski made the cut, rising above hundreds of home chefs who entered their one-pan recipes. Now he's in the running for the grand prize that includes two tickets to the Super Bowl in New Orleans (airfare, hotel accommodations included), two VIP tickets to the Flavortown Tailgate and a meet-and-greet with Fieri, also a Palm Beach County resident — if only part time.

Jasinski began his culinary journey at home — "both of my parents were amazing cooks." But he never had any formal training. For 11 years, his day job has been director of operations at Lion Country Safari.

Very active on the social media cooking scene, Jasinki said his recipe was already a big hit online. "I made it for TikTok a few months ago and it ended up getting over six million views."

Then he heard about the contest through social media and thought "This is the perfect recipe to submit... I have to go for it."

The one-pan recipe contest kicked off June 10 with an open invitation for culinary enthusiasts to showcase their creativity and cooking skills. From sizzling skillet dishes to savory stir-fry, each entry had to include a complete list of ingredients, detailed cooking instructions and either a photo or video to be considered for the competition.

Jasinski submitted his recipe and video and then the dish was judged by the Flavortown committee.

Though he's never met or seen Guy Fieri in person, Jasinski is clearly on a similar culinary page — after all, he too has eaten at Havana in Lake Worth Beach, a restaurant featured on an early episode of Fieri's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives."

The other nine finalists include Kyle Augustson's blazin' chicken penne; Faron Dexter's arayes; Frederick Baker's bacon-wrapped, andouille-stuffed pork chops; Danielle Grossman's New York strip steak; Mike Stephens' loaded cajun pasta bake; Carla Altomare's vedura semplice; Enrique Navarro's cajun beer can chicken; Alex Callegari's Mediterranean arroz con pollo; and Dan Fitzpatrick's chicken caprese bowl.

Ten dollars from each sale will be donated to Homes For Our Troops , a nonprofit that builds/donates specially adapted homes for severely injured post-9/11 Veterans. The homes are equipped with over 40 major special adaptations, including pull-down shelving and roll-under access countertops, cooktops, sinks.

This new line of cookware from Guy Fieri's Flavortown features a new patent-pending technology with a safe non-toxic cooking surface, without potentially harmful chemicals (PFAS, PTFE, PFOA). They are non-stick, three times harder than stainless steel, safe for metal utensils and oven safe up to 700 degrees. Boom!
