Alexander Zverev has arrived in his home city of Hamburg but will only decide after first training sessions whether he will participate in the ATP tournament there next week.

Zverev damaged his knee last week at Wimbledon, and while the injury is not serious he will not want to take any risks a fortnight before the start of the Olympic tournament in Paris where he aims for back-to-back gold medals.

"I am hopeful that I can play in my home town. It is special for me to play in Hamburg. But I must see how my body reacts to the first and second training session," Hamburg title holder Zverev told broadcasters NDR.

"I can walk normally, do everything, but I can't play tennis so well. I can't perform the way I normally do but I am getting there."

Zverev confirmed that he will play at the Olympics from July 27 onwards, in singles and in mixed doubles together with Laura Siegemund.

"This time it will hopefully only be a few weeks, then I will be back and at 100% for the Olympics," he said.
