“Beverly Hills Cop: Alex F” (Now streaming on Netflix) Eddie Murphy reprises one of his most iconic characters, Detroit cop Axel Foley, in Netflix’s long-awaited third sequel to the 1984 original (that also comes 30 years after the last sequel, “Beverly Hills Cop III”). Axel returns to Beverly Hills after his daughter’s life is threatened, and works with old pals John Taggart (John Ashton) and Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) to uncover a conspiracy. Hopefully Murphy resurrects that laugh, too.

“The Imaginary” (Now streaming on Netflix) “Spirited Away” animator Yoshiyuki Momose and Studio Ponoc are behind Netflix’s anime based on A.F. Harrold’s book. The story centers on the imaginary friend of a girl who was created to share thrilling adventures with her. But when the girl suddenly leaves him behind, he’s forced to enter The Town of Imaginaries to find new work and uncovers a mysterious threat.

“The Long Game” (Now streaming on Netflix) Jay Hernandez and Dennis Quaid star in this true story of the San Felipe Mustangs, a group of Mexican-American youths in the 1950s who became Texas State golf champions despite the prejudices they faced playing at a white country club.

“The Monk and the Gun” (Now streaming on Hulu) An American travels to Bhutan in search of a valuable antique rifle and crosses paths with a young monk who wanders through the serene mountains, instructed by his teacher to make things right again.

“Quad Gods” (Now streaming on Max) “Jesus Camp” directors Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady are executive producers of this documentary that follows the lives of three New Yorkers with quadriplegia who meet in a neuro-rehabilitation lab where they create the world’s first-ever, fully quadriplegic e-sports team. As they navigate New York City, confronting challenges at every turn, they pursue their shared dream to compete as athletes while subverting assumptions about disability.

“Space Cadet” (Now streaming on Prime Video) A Florida party girl (Emma Roberts, “We’re the Millers”) turns out to be the only hope for the NASA space program after a fluke puts her in training with other candidates who may have better resumes, but not her smarts, heart and moxie. Also starring Tom Hopper (”The Umbrella Academy”).

“Tyler Perry’s Divorce in Black” (Now streaming on Prime Video) Tyler Perry directs this marriage drama about a banker (Meagan Good) left devastated when her husband (Cory Hardrict) announces he’s abandoning their marriage. The separation forces her to come to terms with his wicked deeds, including sabotaging her previous relationship with her true soulmate.

“Descendants: The Rise of Red” (July 12 on Disney+) This long-awaited new entry in the “Descendants” franchise debuts on Disney+ alongside three singalong versions of the original “Descendants” trilogy. The franchise centers on the children of some of Disney’s most famous villains. The new film centers on the rebellious daughter of Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts from Wonderland. She must team up with Cinderella’s daughter to travel back in time and undo the traumatic events that made their mothers rivals.

“Faye” (July 13 on Max) This documentary examines the life and career of Hollywood icon Faye Dunaway, where she addresses her struggles with mental health issues and bipolar disorder, her family history growing up in a small Florida town, and how the intensity of the characters she played impacted who she is today.

“The Inspection” (July 18 on Netflix) Jeremy Pope gives an acclaimed performance in this autobiographical drama about a young Black man who is forced to suppress his sexual identity in the military.

“My Spy: The Eternal City” (July 18 on Prime Video) Dave Bautista and Chloe Coleman reunite in this sequel to 2020 family action comedy original. Here, the two are thrown into an international terrorist plot on a school trip to Italy.

“Find Me Falling” (July 19 on Netflix) Harry Connick Jr. Stars in this romantic comedy as a rock star who retreats to a dreamy Mediterranean island when his comeback album fails, only to discover that his new cliffside home has an unfortunate notoriety that attracts unwanted visitors and an old flame.

“Love Lies Bleeding” (July 19 on Max) Rose Glass’s pulpy queer crime thriller played at the Sundance Film Festival and stars Kristen Stewart as a gym manager who falls for a bodybuilder (Katy O’Brian) who is passing through town en route to a competition in Las Vegas. But their steamy romance is upended by murder.

“Skywalkers: A Love Story” (July 19 on Netflix) This documentary follows daring Moscow couple Angela Nikolau and Ivan Beerkus, who saved their relationship and career by climbing one of the world’s tallest buildings. The documentary took seven years to make, and Netflix acquired it after its world premiere at Sundance earlier this year.

“Femme” (July 23 on Hulu) Winner of three British Independent Film Awards, this queer thriller centers on the relationship between a celebrated drag artist (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) in London and the closeted gay man (George McKay, “1917”) who brutally attacked him in a homophobic hate crime. The two meet months later at a sauna and begin an affair — all while the desire for revenge looms in the air.

“Knox Goes Away” (July 26 on Max) Michael Keaton directs and stars in this thriller as a contract killer who has a rapidly evolving form of dementia and is offered an opportunity to redeem himself by saving the life of his estranged adult son. Also starring James Marsden, Marcia Gay Harden and Al Pacino.
