New York Jets ' quarterback Aaron Rodgers dug himself a little bit of a hole on Friday at the American Century Championship in Lake Tahoe.

The annual celebrity golf tournament participant carded a 7-over par 79 for the first 18 holes of the three-round event. Rodgers totaled 10 points in the ACC's modified Stableford scoring system.

After Round 1, the 40-year-old Rodgers, who was a Top 5 finisher at the 2023 tournament, sits in a five-way tie for 25th place that also includes former Green Bay Packers ' teammate AJ Hawk and recently retired NFL placekicker Robbie Gould.

Carolina Panthers ' wide receiver Adam Thielen shot out to a somewhat surprising Day 1 lead, scoring 24 points. American tennis star Mardy Fish, the pre-tournament betting favorite, sits 1 point behind in second place.

Rodgers bogeyed three holes and hit double bogeys on three more. He shot par on 10 holes and tallied three birdies.

In terms of the NFL Quarterback Club, Rodgers had a better day than Matt Ryan, John Elway and three-time event champion Tony Romo. He's 3 points behind Josh Allen. In 2023, Rodgers was the top NFL-affiliated finisher after totaling 56 points over 54 holes.

Rodgers is set to tee off Round 2 at 9:06 am PT on Saturday. NBC will have live coverage of the tournament at 2:30 pm ET.
