(WKBN) – The Armstrong Group, which provides cable TV, phone, and internet service to several Mahoning County suburbs, has agreed to pay $6.5 million to settle false claim allegations made by the Federal Communication Commission.

The FCC alleged that between 2008 and 2023 five carriers owned by Armstrong received greater subsidy payments than they were entitled.

The subsidies were to ensure everyone had access to modern communication networks.

The claims resolved by the settlement were allegations only. There has been no determination of liability.
