Meagan Good opened up about her life and divorce to Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay. The actress opened up on the podcast about her former love, DeVon Franklin, and her new boyfriend, Jonathan Majors.

In 2012, Meagan Good was an actress on the set of the filmJumping the Broom, and DeVon Franklin was an executive producer for the distribution company. By the time the project was released, she had married pastor Franklin, smitten and in love, hopeful of their union.

Before the divorce, Good spoke highly of Franklin while reflecting on her previous toxic reflecting relationship.

“”The first thing God told me was that it was time to get out of that relationship. The second thing God told me was that it was time to be celibate. The third thing God told me was that DeVon was my husband.”

Unfortunately, in 2021, DeVon Franklin filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” on official paperwork.

In her recent remarks on the Club Shay Shay podcast, the 42-year-old admitted that the significant life change had tested her faith.

“Going through the divorce shook me to my core,” Megan Good said of her divorce. “I was just like, Lord, you asked me to be celibate, and I was. You told me to marry, and I married that person. I tried to do everything to the best of my ability.”

“And no, I didn’t make everything perfect, but I don’t know if I could have done anything different if I’m being honest. And so I was just like, why is this happening?” Good recounted.

She vocalized her confusion and dread during her recent appearance on the podcast.

Meagan Good continued, “My greatest fear was for my husband to leave me after ten years of marriage. The way that my dad and my mom separated. And that’s exactly what happened.”

“I was just like, I don’t understand this. And so it was a lot of prayer. A lot of validation. A lot of learning about myself. It was a lot of realizing the place that we both were in. It was a lot of rediscovering God.”

Despite all the heartache and confusion, Meagan Good found a silver lining in her divorce by channeling her experience into her new film, “Divorce in the Black.”
