CJ Perry, Otherwise Known As Lana, Is Done Working In AEW

She had not been seen on programming in recent months, and now we know that CJ Perry, otherwise known as WWE’s Lana, is done working in AEW.

This news was confirmed via Fightful, based on Perry’s comments to a newspaper. Per that report, the former Lana has been done in AEW since around April. She was quietly released as part of that round of AEW cuts . The move marks another interesting happening for Perry in 2024. She and her husband, AEW star Miro, confirmed that after 7 years of marriage t hey were splitting .

Lana and Rusev worked well in WWE . They could have reached higher highs, but they did more in WWE than in AEW. And while there had been rumors running rampant for months that Miro would leave AEW, that has not happened yet. But Perry, who came into AEW well after Miro did, is now out of the promotion before Miro is.

Not sure what to make of it?

At face value, it’s a touch of a surprise. But if she and Miro have split, perhaps she was in the way of an AEW star? Or Tony Khan felt she wasn’t worth the headache. But when CJ Perry was asked about her future in AEW, things got interesting. First she confirmed that she had been let go months prior. Second, when someone asked if she was done in wrestling, she said flat out no. Interestingly, she has eyes on molding herself into the imagine of Paul Heyman-at least from an advocate type perspective.

Could she head back to WWE? I doubt fans would be upset in having her return. What she would be used for remains an entirely different question. For now, we don’t need to fix that.
