Don't Miss the 13-Going-on-30 Singer Who Wins Over the 'AGT' Judges with a Billie Eilish Song

It isn’t easy for twentysomethings to take on a Billie Eilish song, so it was even more impressive when 13-year-old Mia Soleil Sanchez from Franklin, N.J., took the America’s Got Talent stage with a winning performance of “Happier Than Ever” by the Grammy-winning singer.

And as has been mentioned in previous AGT stories, it has been quite the year for singers so the competition is tough. Even so, Mia got kudos from the judges.

“Mia Soleil Sanchez, that’s a name people are going to know tomorrow,” Howie Mandel told her. “I love everything about you, and I think America and the world will love you, too.”

Heidi Klum was in agreement, saying, “You sounded so good up there. I love the look that you are serving. You are so cute and you’re a very gutsy young woman. I am very proud of you. Well done.”

Sofia Vergara , who has the last remaining Golden Buzzer of the season, but told host Terry Crews she wasn’t going to be pressured into using it, but would use it when she was moved, simply said, “Mia, I think you are a star.”

So, it was Simon Cowell who commented on her maturity.

“You know what was cool is that you kind of grew with the song and that’s not easy,” he told the budding young singer. “I think that means you’ve got great taste, you know where you’re going, so I really, really liked this audition.”

Backstage, Mia told Terry that getting four yeses and a chance to move on to the live shows is a dream come true for her.

Then she called home, where she lives with 10 people, to break the excellent news.
