LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — After a soggy week Mother Nature is giving us a summer-like forecast for the next few days.

Today we will see temperatures into the mid-80s with plenty of sunshine and a little humidity, making heat indices or the feels like temperature close to the 90s. If you are heading outside today grab the sunscreen and sun protection ( a bucket hat, sunglasses, sun shirt) as we will see the UV index reaching the 9 level which means you could risk getting a sunburn in less than 20 minutes!

Heading into this evening we will start to see clouds bubble up and the chance for showers and storms. While the majority of the area stays dry tonight we do see the chance for those storms moving in early Sunday morning. Temperatures tonight remain mild in the mid to upper 60s so the air conditioners will be the best bet to stay cool tonight.

As for Sunday, we start with a round of thunderstorms as early as 6 am lasting to at least noontime. The threats from these storms are cloud-to-ground lightning and heavy rain. Depending on how clear we get after this round of morning storms we could see another round of storms move in late afternoon into the early hours of Monday morning.

Temperatures for our Sunday remain mild into the upper 80s again we see dew points into the upper 60s to low 70s which means the feels like temperatures will be close to the low 90s. The Storm Prediction Center does have mid-Michigan at a Marginal Risk for severe weather on Sunday with gusty winds and heavy rain being the main threats again.

Our active pattern continues into the upcoming work week, another hot and humid day is ahead for Monday with temperatures into the upper 80s to low 90s with dew points again into the 70s making our feels like temperatures back into the low to mid-90s! We do see an end to the heat and humidity in the form of a cold front that will move through Monday night into Tuesday which will bring yet another chance for showers and storms back to the area.
Temperatures cool back down below average by midweek with cooler dew points. Daytime highs by midweek will get into the low to mid-70s with overnight lows dropping back into the low to mid-50s a refreshing end to a hot and muggy week ahead!
