Stripping it to the bones. "Strangers" has been one of my favorite break-up songs of the year. The duet between Kameron Marlowe and Ella Langley perfectly portrays a relationship ending, but the two are still trying to be in each other's lives. As the feelings and the love don't just go away, you find yourself repeatedly breaking your heart, realizing that you can't make it work. However, at the end of the day, you will never be "Strangers" to each other because of the time you shared.
“We can’t be friends, we can’t be lovers We can’t be weekend drinkin’ leanin’ on each other We can’t be fallin’ off the wagon, talking ’bout what happened Where does that leave you and me? There’s too much love, there’s too much anger We can’t be friends and we can’t be strangers We can’t be strangers..." While this duet was unexpected when first released, it quickly became a fan favorite as their two powerful voices captivated listeners from the song's first lines. Today, they are stripping it back and letting their vocal compatibility shine on an acoustic version of "Strangers." "Very excited to share the acoustic version of Strangers with y’all!"
https://www.instagram.com/p/C9TD_z6pbnU/ The simplicity of this version is breathtaking. With Marlowe playing acoustic as the only instrument featured on the track, his and Langley's vocals shine brightly. They truly are two of the best voices in Nashville currently, and putting them together is magical on the ears. The crisp delivery of each line and the reverb of the guitar notes make it sound like you are sitting in a listening room hearing this track live through your headphones. Ella Langley has been laying down a lot of stellar duets, from her collaboration with Koe Wetzel on "That's Why We Fight" to "You Look Like You Love Me" with Riley Green and even "Buzzes Like Neon" with Adam Hood, but this one showcases how much of a powerhouse her vocals are. Langley and Marlowe are together as close to flawless as you can get. A must-listen from this week's Country New Music Friday. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGtr7XiSzh8
