    Gunshot damage to mid-Michigan electrical infrastructure equipment, $10K reward offered for information leading to arrest

    (WWJ) Michigan State Police are investigating fourteen incidents of gunshot damage to electrical equipment in the central part of the state.

    In a statement on X, State Police said the Electric Co-Op has reported gunshot damage to fourteen of their transformers, regulators, and other electrical equipment in the past year.

    State Police said they happened in Ionia, Clinton and Eaton counties—totaling more than $250,000 in damage and power outages for customers of HomeWorks Tri-County Electric Cooperative , an electric company that serves more than 22,000.

    The majority of the outages happened overnight, State Police said.

    The Electric Co-Op is offering a $9,999 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the suspect (s). Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at (517) 483-STOP.
